We are a very sociable group who offer a warm Scottish welcome to those of Scottish
heritage and those who love Scotland. We enjoy celebrating our Scottish and British
traditions in true style.
The St Andrew Society of York is affiliated to the Burns Federation, Yorkshire District
which provides us with further social opportunities. Federation events
Our President, and Council Members, all of whom are elected by our members, put together and run our excellent
programme of events. The Society thrives on the enthusiasm of our members
The AGM begins proceedings for the year. It is at this event when all the formal
business of the Society is concluded. The out-going President summarises his or her year and the in-coming President is
inaugurated. New Council Members are elected to replace those who have completed their terms in office.
Once all the formalities are concluded there is a chance to enjoy a chat with friends over a cup of tea or coffee and to
meet the current Council Members who are always pleased to hear suggestions and ideas for the development of the Society.

The Georgina Grace Trust was founded in 2005 after the founding trustees’ daughter, Georgina Grace, was born with CMV
(Cytomegalovirus). CMV is a common viral infection occurring throughout the world. However, CMV can infect babies in the
womb (congenital infection), as in Georgina Grace’s case, which has left her with left sided hemiplegia
(a weakness in the left side of her body similar to the affects of a stroke), visual impairment and slight brain damage.
The Georgina Grace Trust aims to help existing charities who work with disabled and special needs children throughout
Yorkshire and the Humber. Home

Some call this evening the highlight of the year, but should you not be Rabbie's best fan you are still assured of a
good evening. The Burn's Night Dinner Dance, is held at the Gimcrack rooms at York Racecourse, in the company of our Civic Party.
The Haggis, the star of the night, will be served with all due honour and respect, followed by yet another sumptuous meal.
The speeches that follow are, in turn, informative, educational, amusing and hopefully not too lengthy! The tables are
cleared away to open up the dance floor. It really is a super evening. Please
