GALLERY LUNCHTIME TALKS

Autumn Season 2007

Each First Wednesday of the month, 12.30-1.00pm

October 3

Seacoast & The Elements      Gordon Hollingsworth

Gordon discusses four contrasting views of the seacoast, from the wildly romantic to the stark and austere: works by Ethel Walker, Anton Mauve, Paul Nash and Roderic O'Conor

November 7

Marking Time                  Corita Myerscough

The theme of time gives us a welcome chance to enjoy works chosen from the permanent collection.

December 5

The New Walk Terrace                                        John Staples

Nathan Drake's exuberant record of eighteenth century York is a favourite with visitors and residents alike. There go the better classes taking their ease, the ships in full sail (fatal to the careless boatman), the quaint old bridge and chapel, and beyond, three disastrous fires ago, the splendour of York Minster.
