Poppleton Gardens' Guild is a not-for-profit organisation aimed primarily at supplying gardening materials and advice to the people living on the north-western fringe of the City of York, especially in the villages of Upper and Nether Poppleton.
The Guild does not intend to compete with commercial organisations but does sell materials at discounted prices in a location that avoids or minimises the use of vehicles.
The Guild has over 300 active members and maintains a garden materials store adjacent to the School allotments.
There are three main allotment sites in the area:
- School Allotments - owned by the Parish Council and rented out on an annual basis,
- Beech Grove Allotments - self-managed and,
- Millfield Lane Allotments - self-managed
