D3318T1 Computing for Beginners – Digital Skills for Home - Register Your Interest FLV0628NF

This is a great way to learn and practice the digital skills necessary to use a computer online. 

Registering an interest into this course will ensure you receive a phone call to assess your skills. Full payment will only be taken if the course is suitable and you are subsequently enrolled.

 

You will learn the basics of using a computer, starting with the keyboard and mouse moving on to creating and printing documents; how to access the internet, send and receive emails, gain an understanding of Internet browsers and how they work, recognise icons, scroll bars and menus. You will also learn how to use search engines to find information, whilst being safe online.

In addition to these skills, you will complete 2 modules chosen from the following options.
Social networking which covers how to manage your personal profiles and groups, post messages and upload your photos.

Digital media: Gain an understanding of different file types eg. Word, Spreadsheets etc, and what they are used for. How to store and back up files, share data, and connect to other devices using wireless technologies.

Digital music: Learn how to download/purchase music online, and to manage and organise your own digital music collections.

Digital photography: You will learn how to take your digital photos, how to organise your photo collections and carry out simple editing tasks.

Audio and video softwar:. This option gives you the opportunity to learn about capturing, playing back, transferring and sharing audio and video recordings with friends and basic editing techniques.

You will need a notebook, pen and current email address if available.

The date, day and time for this course are flexible.
Venue: York Explore, Clifton and Acomb Explore libraries.
Duration: 50 hours over 16 weeks
Costs: Full fee £50, State Pension £45, Free for JSA/ESA
